ABOUT US

We are a group of environmental justice organisations, in Mozambique and around the world, working together to fight the destructive transnational gas industry in Mozambique and everywhere.

Our planet is facing a climate crisis, among many other crises. We need to stop using fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) and other dirty and harmful energies, if we want to stay under 1.5 degrees global average temperature rise, which will be already be catastrophic for many parts of Mozambique and Africa and the global south. We are campaigning in our own countries against different players involved. By weaving our work together we have built an international, committed, dynamic and powerful campaign.

We are challenging the gas industry and demanding justice.

Justiça Ambiental logo

Justiça Ambiental (JA!) is a Mozambican non-governmental organisation (NGO) working on the environmental and social impacts of Mozambique’s uncontrolled and unsustainable development.

JA! was officially founded and registered in 2004 by a group of individuals who were very concerned about the manner in which Mozambique was developing in the unregulated global economy. At JA!, we work to raise public awareness and build movements at the grassroots level against damaging environmental practices or damaging mega-projects in Mozambique. We focus on providing research and analysis to deepen the debates around the overlapping crises we face in Mozambique and around the world, and aim to build awareness and solidarity between communities at national, regional and international level.

Friends of the Earth France advocates for a transition to sustainable societies in the North and South. FoE France’s campaigns expose the economic and political mechanisms behind climate change, the plundering of natural resources and the worsening of inequalities. We challenge the current model, the power of big business and put pressure on the state and elected officials to defend the public interest. Above all, we show that there are possible alternatives.

climaximo logo

We are an open, horizontal, anti-capitalist collective. We are a group of activists driven by the urgency of combating climate change and its serious effects. We know that they are linked to human rights and the distribution of wealth and power in the world. That is why we fight for new and sustainable ideas of wellbeing, for social and climate justice, and resist false solutions of “green capitalism”: we believe that the commodification of nature and the planet’s resources will always cause increasing cycles of exploitation and destruction.
